Review SNL: Season 33: Episode 8
Sketch Comedy That Makes Poke Laugh March 16th, 2008Host: Jonah Hill
Musical Guest: Mariah Carey
Special Guest: Tracy Morgan
The episode started off with a predictable and yawn inducing Eliot Spitzer Cold Open:
There was a much better take on the controversy later in Weekend Update called Really!?! With Seth and Amy:
Jonah Hill was a fairly good host. His opening song (that’s two weeks in a row with the monologue involving song and dance) wasn’t very special until he tried to tap dance. But in the sketches he blended in with the regular players. My favorite live sketch was Six Year Old:
I say that’s my favorite live sketch, because the taped sketches were much better. Starting off with the two MacGruber sketches, The Bank and Paint Factory:
But the funniest, as usual, was the SNL Digital Short Andy’s Dad:
Mariah Carey’s new stuff isn’t as good as her old stuff, but at least she looks better than she did when she went crazy on TRL.
The biggest moment of the night was the return of Tracy Morgan. He did a political commentary in response to Tina Fey’s “Bitch is the new Black” rant from a few weeks ago.
“We are a racist country. The End!” — Brilliant
We get reruns until April 5 — that’s when Christopher Walken hosts for a seventh time. Maybe we’ll get More Cowbell!

Yep, I was wondering about that. I’ll blame it on your flu.
